About the Author
Beth Morling is Professor of Psychology at the University of Delaware. She attended Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, and received her Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Before teaching at Delaware, she held positions at Union College (New York) and Muhlenberg College (Pennsylvania). She has taught research methods at Delaware almost every semester for 10 years. In addition, she teaches undergraduate cultural psychology and a seminar on the self-concept, as well as a graduate course in the teaching of psychology. Her research in the area of cultural psychology explores how cultural practices shape people’s motivations. Dr. Morling has been a Fulbright scholar in Kyoto, Japan.

Great content, textbook itself is cheaply made

This textbook was surprisingly interesting, and I'm not an avid reader. The author is very good with giving examples and sticking with the same set of examples throughout the chapters. The author is also excellent at tying the concepts together from beginning to end. Vocab words are used throughout the entire book so it's easier to remember them all the way to the end.
As for the book itself, be careful with the pages. They're made out of very cheap paper and even a drop of water on the page will permanently wrinkle the page in that spot. It might even be worth getting the hardcover for this book because of how terribly flimsy it is.

Don't choose any other textbook! This is the best!

This textbook is one of the easier reads in terms of standard textbook materials.
It has up-to-date information, has a large number of both modern and classic examples to make sure that students actually have a grasp on the sometimes complicated material they are reading, reads very easily, has several useful charts and graphics, and doesn't feel dry at all.
The writer of this textbook very clearly has the goal of keeping students engaged, and being a student myself, I feel that they succeed with their goal.
If you are an instructor looking for a Methods of Research textbook that your students actually won't mind reading, that isn't highly outdated and dry, and that actually engages your students: look no further than this textbook. This is a modern psychology educator's gold mine.

Easy to read textbook

This book was used in one of my college classes and served me well. It provided good, real life examples that made the topics easier to understand. Each new topic flowed well onto the next. As far as textbook's go, this was not bad to read. Almost every page had definitions on the side which was very helpful in explaining the concepts.
