Great book for those starting with meditation.

Did you know meditation is good for your mind, soul, and health? This is a great book for someone that is just getting started with meditation.
Meditation does not have to be hard or very time consuming. It’s all about taking time out of your busy day to concentrate on you. There are many 10 minute exercises.
No matter who you are, what kind of life you lead; we can all benefit from the practice of meditation. It’s a great way to reduce stress and anxiety without medication.
This was a quick read and great to have on hand when you need to just relax and close off your mind for a few minutes.

A Must-Have Beginner's Guide

Since I was a teenager, I've had a deeper understanding of meditation than most. I don't say that to sound conceited, but just to give you a better understanding of my experience prior to having read this book. I have read numerous guides, watched numerous tutorials, and have studied up on the science behind meditation.
With that said, I "fell off" of the wagon into my adult years and more recently, have attempted to reconnect with the more spiritual side of myself. I found this book to be exactly what I needed to refresh my mind and jump back into the art of meditation.
This guide is a true beginner's guide, and helps you to take a look at your thoughts to apply new ways of thinking so that you may gain a stronger appreciation of even the most (seemingly) trivial moments. You'll learn how to meditate, when to meditate, positions in which to meditate, as well as methods for practicing almost anywhere.
What I loved the most was that the book discusses the importance of BEFRIENDING the internal chatter in your mind, instead of simply repressing it. This is critical to maintaining a quality meditative state and is incredibly important when you're just starting out. I recommend this book to beginner's, intermediates, and those looking to reconnect with their inner selves.

Meditation Now is a Life Enhancing Book that is a Joy to Read

What I love about Meditation Now is that it is not only a thoroughly informative book for the beginner, but it is so enjoyable to read. It's a fine example of "the medium is the message," since I began to find myself in a very quiet, peaceful state after reading just a few chapters. There are so many excellent features of the book. Meditation is explained in an academic, cerebral way, but the author also makes it simple to understand. There are practical plans for ten minute meditations that even the busiest professional can fit into his or her day. Stress is one of the worst enemies of physical and mental health, and meditation is probably the best and most potent antidote. Best of all, meditation is all natural and free, and anyone can do it. Meditation begins with a sitting practice in which the individual focuses on breath and internal awareness. There are also ways to meditate with movement. My favorite passage is about walking meditation "kissing the earth" with the soles of your feet and leaving imaginary pink and white lotus blossoms where you have just stepped. Creative passages like that made reading this book a true pleasure. A copy of the book was provided to me at no cost in exchange for an impartial review.
