Love this book.

I had to study from the original Magee book, and it could be frustrating at times trying to get all the information about the special tests, as it was buried in text.
This book lays everything out neatly and succinctly. The purpose is clearly labeled, the actions for the test, positive signs, everything very easy to find. Good for a quick reference guide.
It does cut out all of the information about the bones and joints, though, so if you need something in depth, you're better off with the full Magee. But if you would like a quick reference guide, this book is a god-send.

Best Brittany travel book

The definitive travel book on Brittany. At 632 pages it is certainly the most comprehensive. While most travel books assume that tourists do little more than travel from city to city to see cathedrals and museums, Barbour's Brittany gives equal time to the countryside. He is opinionated and tells you where the most beautiful parts are Brittany are to be found and what to avoid. We planned our three-week trip to Brittany around his recommendations and were elated. Our landlord (we utilized the book's information to rent a gite) was amazed that we had been to places he considered to be the most beautiful spots when they require traveling along unpaved roads without signposts. We were delighted to find that the bargains he recommended were terrific. For example, we followed his advice and went to a Breton festival in the remote village of Spezet, which was outstanding. The bargain hotel in Spezet he recommended was excellent. He not only gives his opinionated and accurate recommendations, he provides actual prices as opposed to the vague pricing categories of most other guides. We followed his advice and avoided the congested touristy locales as much as possible. When we were unable to avoid them, it was painfully apparent why he was warning his readers away. If you're going to Brittany, buy this book. Considering the high cost of travel, it's foolish not to have at least one good guide book and this is the best by far of the four I bought.

Philippe Babour's Brittany is guide with an obsessive attention to detail and content. Of the six hundred or so pages, probably 50% to 60% are filled with history and lore. The book scores high marks as a companion guide to The Miclelin Green Guide or to the 60 or so pages on Brittany and Nantes within the Lonely Planet's guide to France. Barbour logically arranges his sections geographically, connects them together, and contrasts them. Both The Lonely Planet and Barbour have nice sections on housing-hotel areas and specific hotel recommendations, and Barbour does the best. The Lonely Planet is, unfortunately, focused on one-star places and below, but Barbour casts a wide net.
Barbour's Brittany is a solid 4-star performer in the area of trip planning. However, it cannot stand-alone and be the only guidebook to Brittany that you will ever need. Different from Michelin's Green Guide, there are neither maplets with driving instructions of the areas nor photographs. It makes sense to get a visual glimpse of the area if you have never been there before, but Barbour paints only lavish word pictures that don't really prioritize one area in comparison to another. He has very strong opinions and is not shy conveying them to the reader. This generally presents a nice style and personality to the book. Occasionally, however, Barbour becomes mean-spirited and makes direct attacks against specific people and places. Discount that, and it is a fine book to plan your trip to Brittany.

Not sure if I read the same book as the ...

Not sure if I read the same book as the other reviewers. On the 1st day of employment in a new household, the maid seduces the lady of the house? Neither had previous same-sex attraction. I found this book to be implausible and ridiculous in places I do not see this as historical fiction.

This was a good novella if you know about Victorian literature

This was a good novella if you know about Victorian literature, because if you do, the writer's knowledge of the time and her vocabulary will impress you. The story felt pretty rushed, but I suppose that's what happens with novellas. There were two things that took away from this story for me: the quickness with which they were besotted with one another (again, the novella length is probably to blame for this); and the use of a certain word in the erotic scenes, I found that (especially for this era) it was a little jarring. For the price though, at around $3, it's worth the buy if you like historical fiction.

A Nice, Victorian Romance About Two Women From Different Stations

I gave this five stars because as Vivian and Millie's romance blossomed, I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. Vivian Hollingsworth spent a year in mourning after losing her husband to war. She watched as her maid and butler ran off to elope, leaving her with just her cook. Her sister in-law Lottie, who spends her time partying and match making, helped out by sending her young maid, Millie O'Conner to work for her. As Vivian slowly began to get back into society, the companionship that developed between the two women turned into a love affair. Because of their differences in both status and station, I found myself on edge waiting for something bad to happen. The story was well written and the main characters were charming. The supporting cast was interesting and I would have liked a little more from them. All and all, a good romance worth reading. Recommended.

An amazing story.

One of the best stories I've read in a long time. The series is long and fully developed without being tedious or feeling like it is dragging on. The characters are complex, relatable, and human. Chie Shinohara is not afraid to include subjects that would otherwise be avoided in other manga like death, love, and inner turmoil. I ended up learning a lot about history and becoming interested in the real world inspirations for these characters.

In this volume Yuri faces several princesses who have joined Kail's seragilo. Kail wishes to make Yuri his wife, but first Yuri must show that she can run the seragilo without anyone's help. The princesses cross the line when they threaten Kail's security and peace of mind, and Yuri quickly handles the situation after learning, from Kail's ex, why Kail has never dismissed her. It is also made clear just how much the Hittite Empire worships their beloved Ishtar as the Empire fears for her health. This series is a must-read for fans of both manga and history.

My favorite Jaid Black read...

The story starts out at what should have been Euan Donald's {Chieftain of the Donalds and lord of Isle of Skye} wedding feast, in the year 1052 AD, Scotland. When his bride was not delivered to him as promised The Donalds brother Graeme persuades him to go and steal him one. {I am leaving quite a bit out for those that will read this very good story...} The 6'6, very muscular and darkly handsome, Euan accompanied by his two brothers set off to capture themselves some wives.

Present day Nairn Scotland, Janet Duval and her best friend Morag were leaving the local Pub after dinner and drinks. Morag was on duty for the night at her family owned, Inn. It didn't take long for the two women to notice something quite different about that night. Walking towards the Inn, the fog grew thick and dense and before they knew it, they were no longer in the present.

Before they had a chance to react to their new surrounds Morag was snatched away from Janet by a thickly muscled man. Janet's first reaction was to run to find help but Euan caught her eye and before she knew it she was up in his arms being carried off as well. I will leave off here...

This erotically charged story caught my attention from the first paragraph and I tell you it was so good that I wanted to crawl into my computer and get trapped within the story!!! I loved it and highly recommend this read to anyone that likes erotic-manhandling stories. This was my second taste of Jaid Black and still my favorite by far of all of her stories. And I've read just about all of them. Keep up the good work JB!!!

Simply Amazing!

Jaid Black is one of the most talented authors around today. She has an amazing understanding of the human psyche, and is an expert at exposing the very nature of women and their most secret desires. She has a wonderful way of drawing the reader into her world until nothing else can exist for them but the characters and stories she has created. She doesn't use dried up, overused, hum-drum story lines at all, instead she creates something new and wonderful in each of her books that just makes you want to swoon with pleasure...and read more more more!! If you haven't read a Jaid Black novel then your life as a reader is just not complete. I reccommend all of her books, and even though I can't pick a favorite no matter how hard I try, this one is up there on my list. Keep 'em coming Ms. Black, and no doubt about it!

Warlord--good story but not as much erotica

Jaid Black writes an interesting story, but this one is not one of her best. Although the plot is good, the story is short and lacks in depth feeling. The speed with which our heroines adapt to being kidnapped and sent 1,000 years back in time is not believable. Her erotica is less intense in this book and just a bit flat. Although it is a good read, I would recommend The Possession if your looking for a hot Jaid Black read.

your Tiger and Dragon within

Imagine the explosive power of a predatory beast! A lioness, say, or a cheetah or wolf. It has to swiftly take down its prey, often larger than itself, usually on the run. It instinctively knows its prey's vulnerable points and just where and how to strike them. Kung Fu San Soo is a predatory fighting system with no sporting application. There are no tournaments or "sparring", just devastating self-defense. It won't turn you into a predator, but it can give you the the instinctive reactions and capabilities of one! Like the tiger, the San Soo fighter takes down and destroys his opponant in three to seven seconds. I've had Master Jones' book for a long time, and enjoy reading it for his witty writing and sound technique. But a recent event compels me to share it with others: several months ago, while home alone, I experienced a "home invasion". The young tweeker smashed through our security screen-door, yelling and cursing in an attempt to intimidate his victim. Boy, did he ever choose the wrong one! Two principles of San Soo, as instructed by Master Jones, are never let an opponant intimidate you or get his hands on you. Never be the prey! Become the Predator! In an instant, I had lunged off the couch and attacked him, roaring like a lioness. How dare he break into my living room and terrorize my cats! He screamed and fled in a panic. I chased him out of the house and to the end of the driveway, roaring so loudly I tore my vocal chords. My invader probably never realized his pursuer was a 50-year-old woman; what he perceived was a TIGER coming at him! This is how San Soo can unleash your own Inner Beast when you most need protection. In many cases, as in this one, you may not even have to fight; your predatory ferocity might be enough. But do understand that the fighting techniques are brutal, and wreak swift "carnivorous" carnage. As Master Jones writes: better to him than to you! This was not the only time San Soo has prevented me from being hurt -- maybe this time it even saved my life! Obviously no book can provide the skill obtained by practice. But "The Inner Beast of San Soo" might convince you to give predator training a "fighting chance"!

The book stands on its own

When you read of "the inner beast" in this book, I'm referring to confidence in willingness to commit to attack.

The key word here is 'confidence'. If you aren't confident in your ability or readiness, you'll be tentative, hesitant, and headed for disaster.

Preparing for realistic violence means training realistically from comitted attacks in places you're most likely to be, outside a school. Only then will you have the confidence to seize that sparkle-burst moment of opportunity to end a dangerous situation at its beginning.

Confidence is a state of being that I can't give you; this is something you must earn through the sweat of your own brow.

There's no such 'thing' as 'the beast', It's only a metaphor for an intangible condition.

Regardless of what I or anyone else ever says about fighting, remember this: Rhetoric is debatable; pain is irrefutable.

The study of violence in any form is a pathway, not a destination. I wouldn't cheat you of the journey even if I could.

The psychology of Kung-Fu San Soo

This is the second book written by Master Greg Jones on the devastating martial art called Kung-Fu San Soo. The book goes deep into the psychology of Kung-Fu San Soo, called Fut Ga by the practitioners of the art. This is a no non-sense approach to fighting. It deals with the kill or be killed reality of the mean streets. This book covers a wide range of options dealing with street survival. It covers how to deal with weapons, multiple attackers, and how to destroy any would-be criminal or thug that stands in your way and would try to do you harm. I first bought this book in 1993 when it came out, and have since read it three times. An excellent resource for beginners and for advanced students as well. A good read for those wanting to learn more about the ruthless mind-set of Kung-Fu San Soo.

It is more technical than I anticipated or wanted.
I want to know where what I just scanned or downloaded went, or where my documents are.
Basic information about changes from previous Windows versions...
How do I find "My Computer" to see what UBS drive I have plugged in? etc.

I love this book. For dummies like me it is perfect and allows you to go a deep or shallow as you wish. Very well written and comprehensive.

It doesn't answer all my questions (like how to made movie type dvd's on the new computer from old home movies), really it doesn't cover burning DVDs for video much at all. However, it saved my behind the other day when new PC suddenly lost the ability to access the internet thru my wi-fi. Told me how to go back to restore points, which is not obvious in W-10 like it was in XP. So I believe I got my money's worth just from that. I'm going to try some more stuff from it very soon.
